“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!”

The Hebrew word translated into the English word “earth” can also mean “dust” (BibleHub, n.d.). Job’s description or proclamation that “at the last he shall stand upon the dust” is in contradistinction to man who, according to the Old Testament, comes from the dust and returns to the dust:
“then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature” (Genesis 2:7 ESV).
